名月に響く　石垣でとぅばらーま大会

 

【石垣】八重山民謡を代表する情歌、とぅばらーまの歌唱力を競う「とぅばらーま大会」(石垣市主催)が旧暦8月13日の9月19日夜、同市の新栄公園で行なわれた。

 

今回は市制55周年記念大会で、25人がそれぞれ自慢の唄を月夜に響かせた。

 

大会は1947年、戦後の混乱の中開催され、その後1、2年の中断などを経て、77年からは市主催で行われている。

 

沖縄本島や関東、関西からも出場があり、最年少は11歳の唄者。

 

心配された雨もなく、とぅばらーまの歌詞にも詠まれる、中秋の名月の手前の十三月夜の光の下、新栄公園には大勢の市民や観光客らが集い、唄者の美声に聞き入った。
