旧吉田茂邸、部分開園にぎわう／大磯

 

旧吉田茂邸の再建事業で神奈川県は９月２２日、県立大磯城山公園「旧吉田茂邸地区」（大磯町国府本郷、西小磯、約２・９ヘクタール）のうち、日本庭園、バラ園、兜門、管理休憩棟、駐車場、松林など約１・８ヘクタールを部分開園した。

 

庭園では、琴の演奏、野点などのオープニングイベントが行なわれ、多くの来場者でにぎわった。

 

旧吉田茂邸再建は、神奈川県と大磯町が２０１６年度中の全面オープンへ整備中。

 

敷地は県立公園として神奈川県が整備。

 

建物の再建は大磯町が担当し本年度に実施設計、１４、１５年度に工事を行なう。

 

吉田茂存命時の１９６６年当時を再現する景観づくりが進められている。

 

今回は、建物部分を除く地区西側、南側を先行開園させた。

 

造園家中島健の設計で１９６１年ごろ完成した池泉回遊式の日本庭園は、吉田茂の好みを踏まえ、さまざまな草花やツツジ類、梅などが多く植えられ色彩豊かな庭だった。

 

開園にあたって、昔の写真や中島の作庭手法を確認しながら剪定などが行なわれ、復元が図られた。

 

また、当時皇太子妃だった皇后さまに献呈されたバラの品種「プリンセスミチコ」が栽培されるなどし、吉田の自慢だったバラ園も再整備。

 

当時の品種が再び植えられている。

 

オープニングイベントでは、大磯町茶道協会（加藤宗裕会長）の野点、「りさの会」（山本恭子代表）の琴、尺八の演奏で日本庭園の雰囲気を演出。

 

大磯ガイドボランティア協会（山田喜一会長）の会員がガイドを行ない、多くの来場者が庭園を満喫していた。

 

今回の開園部分は入場無料。

 

年末年始を除き毎日午前９時から午後５時まで開園する。

 

土日・祝日は、ガイドボランティア２人が常駐し有料で案内も行なう。
