Mercedes-Benz investing RM280m in retail network

KUALA LUMPUR (Malaysia): Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MBM) plans to invest up to RM280 million between now and 2016 to grow its business.
MBM vice-president of sales and marketing Kai Schlickum said the investment will be mostly for its retail network.

"The investment plan is at its preliminary stage and there is no exact timeline as yet. However, it will be towards making the Mercedes-Benz lifestyle experience better.

"The Mercedes-Benz lifestyle is the dream and we are selling that dream," Schlickum said at the launch of NZ Wheels Bangsar Autohaus, here, yesterday.

NZ Wheels Bangsar is a joint effort by NZ Wheels Sdn Bhd and MBM.

It is also the first corporate solutions centre for Mercedes-Benz in Southeast Asia, which aims to customise and simplify financing options for business owners and conglomerates.

"Malaysia is not our biggest market but we believe in its potential. We already have four of these fleet centres and we will be launching four more of these by year-end. The four will also be corporate solution centres."

The joint investment in the three-storey 13,000-square feet Bangsar Autohaus, which can house 11 showroom vehicles, was RM15 million.

"There are three brands that belong together in Malaysia and those are NZ Wheels, Mercedes and Bangsar," Schlickum remarked.
